OVpay: a new way to check in and out of public transport

If you occasionally travel by public transport, you'll probably like OVpay. Using it, you can smoothly check in with your contactless card, phone or smartwatch. That means one less card to carry around! And no balance to top up, plus you won't need to set up anything. You can check in and out straight away. And the best part? It's now compatible with age-based discounts.

How it works

Easy! Just hold your contactless debit or credit card or phone to the card reader to check in or out - just like your OV-chipkaart. It's a breeze.

Planning to use OVpay? Here's what you should know:

  • Make sure you have sufficient funds in your account.
  • You can use the app to submit travel expenses and add age-based discounts.
  • Always use the same contactless card or device to check in and out. So if you check in with your smartwatch, be sure to check out with it, too.
  • Be careful not to check in twice. This might happen if you hold your wallet to the card reader, and it contains both a contactless card and an OV-chipkaart. If you accidentally check in twice, simply adjust your trip at www.zelfregelen.ovpay.nl.
